Some causes and advice
The increased incidence of condensation in today's buildings is the direct result of changes in modern living conditions, which have led to more comfortable rooms. In many homes the traditional open fire has been replaced by sophisticated heating systems, and ill fitting doors and windows have been replaced by modern double glazing products, these products have led to more comfortable homes but fewer air changes, all this aids the creation of condensation. Two adults produce one and a half pints of moisture in 8 hours, which is absorbed into the atmosphere. You must provide natural ventilation into the home, and remember double glazing cannot cause condensation.

Fire Resistant glass
Specifying the correct fire resistant glass is a crucial decision, all Pilkington products are classified for integrity, insulation, radiant heat, and are classified accordingly. It must be noted that fire resistant glass cannot be placed into a standard UPVC frame and classed as fire resistant. There are suitable UPVC frames on the market but must be specified and glazed by the manufacturer. Hardwood and steel can be used. Aluminium is not suitable., We currently offer Pilkington Pyrodur, Pyrostop, and Pyroshield. All prices are subject to application.

We are now able to offer a glass tinting service, whereby any glass or double glazed unit can be specially filmed with the tint of your choice, including Solar and Safety film, for conservatories, commercial offices and buildings where they assist with glare and ultra violet light. Stencils can be used to show company logos in relief.

Pilkington Active is the worlds first self cleaning glass, and is described as an impossible dream. The unique dual action uses the forces of nature to help keep the glass clear from organic dirt. We cannot say that your windows will never need cleaning, but Pilkington Active reduces the amount of cleaning required, and should only need cleaning with warm soapy water and a cloth.
